New National Ads Call for Jobs, End to America's Dependence on Dirty Coal and Foreign Oil
MENLO PARK, Calif., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As the incoming administration in Washington, DC decides how ambitious it should be on climate and energy policy, the "We" Campaign this week launches a new series of ads in support of its "Repower America" effort, highlighting that the proven technologies needed to end America's addiction to fossil fuels and halt global warming will also create millions of jobs and help revive the nation's economy.
The first two in the series of new ads, entitled "Clean Energy" and "Jobs," will run on national television, online and in major print publications beginning December 4. The series will continue into the new year. These ads represent the latest step in the 2 million-member strong "We" Campaign's major effort to "Repower America" with 100% clean electricity within ten years, a bold challenge first issued by former Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore in July.
"The new ads show that the technologies needed to Repower America are real and concrete," said Cathy Zoi, CEO of the Alliance for Climate Protection, the nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that manages the "We" Campaign. "The technologies to harness the sun and wind and to make us more energy efficient exist today, and have been expanding. Truly unleashing them will create millions of new jobs for hardworking Americans, free us from volatile energy prices, and ensure a future fueled by energy that is free, limitless and clean."
The first ad, titled "Clean Energy," features a rancher walking through a wind farm. "The future's over here...wind, sun, a new energy grid," the rancher says. "Imagine. Plugging in your pick-up truck and driving all over hell's half acre on clean energy made right in here in America." The ad concludes, "Repower America. It's time to get real."
The second ad, titled simply "Jobs," features a construction worker retrofitting an office building. "If we made these old places use less energy, we could save money and boost the economy," the ad says. "It's not about turning down the thermostat and putting on sweaters. It's about repowering America."
Full transcripts of the ads are included below.
Unveiled the day after the election through a series of ads that asked the question "Now What?", the Repower America agenda calls for the immediate commencement of a clean energy plan that includes efficiency, generation, transmission, and transportation.
"There are no technology, material or know-how impediments to achieving the Repower America goal," said Zoi. "We can do this if we choose to do it. We have a choice. We can stay on the current path and rely on fuels that are polluting our earth and destabilizing our economy. Or we can move deliberately to a path that leads to free fuels, and real economic and national security."

"Clean Energy"
Some people say the answer to our energy lies in the past....
They want to burn more oil and more dirty coal.
Problem is it burns carbon and carbon's gases are killing God's green earth.
The future's over here.... wind, sun, a new energy grid....
Imagine. Plugging in your pick-up truck and driving all over hell's half acre on clean energy made right in here in America...
The boys in Teheran might not like it. But in Tucson it goes down pretty good about now.
Repower America.
It's time to get real.
"Jobs"
Most people see an old building. I see my next job.
If we made these old places use less energy, we could save money and boost the economy.
It's not about turning down the thermostat and putting on sweaters.
It's about repowering America.
One of the fastest ways to cut our dependence on old dirty fuels that are killing our planet.
It's a great idea... unless you've got a problem with creating jobs.
Repower America.
It's time to get real.
